If my life was a movie, this would be my soundtrack...

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE???

Here's how to play the game...

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For the first "life moment," type the song that is playing
5. When you go to a new "life moment," press the next button TWICE

Opening Credits: "Hollaback Girl" by Gwen Stefani

First Day at School: "White Christmas" sung by Bing Crosby (this reminds me of all those harsh winters waiting for the school bus or the 10 minute walk from the parking lot behind the football field....)

Falling in Love: "Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!!!!!"

Losing Virginity:
"This is All Very New to Me" sung by Elaine Stritch (this is the perfect match!)

Fight Song: "Say Liza" (aka "Liza with a Z!")

Breaking Up: "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two" from Oliver!

Prom: "Miss Celie's Pants" from Color Purple (well, it IS a dance number...)

Life: "The Swamps of Home" from Once Upon a Mattress

Mental Breakdown: "Don't Waste Your Time" by Kelly Clarkson

Driving: "Proud" sung by Susan Boyle

Flashback: "Children of the Revolution" by U2 (from Moulin Rouge)

Getting Back Together: "Bend and Snap" from Legally Blonde: The Musical

Wedding: "I'm So Ronery" from Team America: World Police (I guess this means I'll never see gay marriage in my lifetime...)

Birth of Child: "You Are the Music In Me" (the Sharpay version) from High School Musical 2

Final Battle: "There Will Come a Day" by Melinda Doolittle (another perfect pairing...)

Death Scene: "Santa Clause is Comin' to Town" sung by Frank Sinatra (this makes me smile...)

Funeral Song: "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" from Annie

Watchmen

Ok, so I FINALLY got to see Watchmen! (Who watches the Watchmen!?) And being the dork that I am, I LOVED IT! :)

Now, I heard it was a lot different from the novel, and shorter, too (which is hard to believe considering the movie is 2 and a half hours long....), but I, for one, APPRECIATE when the movie and book are different. It gives you the chance to enjoy both. And regardless of how awesome the book may be, the movie still seemed to do it justice. The action was good, but I think what I liked the most was the fact that there was more STORY than action. I hate when Hollywood blockbusters just throw in action sequences for the hell of it! (cough....Transformers 2....cough.....) Give me an action sequence for a REASON, and if that means you don't have many action scenes, that's fine, but they better all be damn amazing! ;)

However, I must admit that I think the best part of the movie was not the action, nor the story, nor even the characters and the acting....what ruled in this movie was the MUSIC!!! And not just that, but the film's USE of the music. It was very inspiring. My favorite was the beginning sequence, when the Comedian was getting beat up, and the whole fight was choreographed to "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole. Music usage doesn't get any better than that... ;)

I give this movie a HALF REDBULL
(meaning I would only need half a Redbull to watch the Watchmen all over again!)

BEST SONG EVER!!!

MARIO KART LOVE SONG = BEST SONG EVER!!! :)

KT Sullivan

So tonight, my accompanist for "Nerds Among Us," Jeff Cubeta and I were lucky enough to be guests at KT Sullivan's cabaret in the exquisite Oak Room of the famous Algonquin Hotel. WHAT A SHOW!!! Of course, we were the youngest people in the audience, but MAN! Can that woman sing! Her theme tonight was the music of Dietz and Schwartz, who were Golden Age composer/lyricists, but whether I was around during that generation or not, KT TRULY lets you appreciate them both. I am so glad to have met KT during my days with Cabaret Pittsburgh, along with many others (Elaine Stritch, Tom Wopat, Stephen Schwartz, etc.), but I couldn't be more happier with a better cabaret mentor. KT is at the TOP of the cabaret scene, and she clearly deserves it. And to simply dine in the Oak Room of the Algonquin Hotel....well....I felt like I was rich! Thank you, KT, for a marvolous evening. :)
