I like movies. A lot. I also have lots of opinions about the films I see. So I rate them in regards to how many Red Bulls I would need to watch the movie all over again. I hope you enjoy, and don't forget to comment! :)

National Equality March - October 11th, 2009
Wow.
It's only been a couple of days, but I am still quite emotional over the experience I had at the National March for Equality in Washington, D.C. that took place on October 11th, 2009...
First of all, I just want to THANK EVERYONE WHO ATTENDED!!! The last I heard there was over 150,000 people there, which truly makes it the largest march for gay/equal rights in the past decade! GO US! :)
Next, I am 26, and to some, I am still young, but I was TRULY INSPIRED by the amount of teenagers I saw at the rally. My brother is also gay, and he came out at a much earlier age than I did, and I always admired him for that. So to all the teens who attended, way to represent. :)
Also, I received MUCHO SUPPORT from friends and family members before I went down to D.C., and I just want to thank everyone else who (for whatever reason...) could NOT make it down to the march for sending someone in their place to represent them. I, personally, felt like I was representing AT LEAST 10 friends who weren't there physically, but it made me feel like a stronger person. :)
I also MUST THANK Broadway Impact. They, alone (with Equity Cares) sponsored 25 buses from NYC to D.C. and back, bring 1400 people to the march, and that is truly amazing! This organization makes me want to do more for gay rights....so THANK YOU BROADWAY IMPACT for being a true leader! :)
Now, as for the march itself....
Again.
Wow. :)
To start the day off with a RAINBOW IN THE SKY WITH NO RAIN FOR MILES....that is TRULY a sign from a higher power! The weather couldn't have been better, I was only bummed because I prepared for the cold by wearing my rainbow sweatshirt, but it was so hot, I had to take it off....thank God I had my "peace shirt" underneath....
But it truly felt inspirational and emotional to march down the streets of Washington with THOUSANDS of people with the same beliefs! I took many great pics at the White House, as well as the Capitol where we ended up, but no words can really recapture the moment as I was living it. Marching for something you TRULY BELIEVE IN is something EVERYONE has to do AT LEAST ONCE in their lifetime....
I was also very proud to find that my hometown friend, Tanner Efinger, made a BEAUTIFUL speech at the rally! Just another reason to be proud... :)
I was also glad that many people were standing up to President Obama. Yes, we know we voted him in, but one of the speakers said it best when she said, "We voted for you because we BELIEVE you are the one who can help us. BUT...we can no longer wait. The time is NOW! CHANGE IS NOW! NOW! NOW! NOW!" I only HOPE the President heard....
On the other hand.....President Obama made some MAJOR promises at the HRC dinner the night before. I would love to see him hold up to these promises in the next 3 years, just in case he can't get re-elected, but we shall see what the future brings....
Finally, I realized something today....
Someone told me that it is "sad that we have to march for our own rights." But I actually have to disagree....
I am actually GLAD that I have to march for my own equal rights! Our forefathers have always talked about "those who died to defend this country," well....maybe it's MY TURN (or OUR TURN) to defend it! I am actually PROUD that WHEN I have equal rights, I will have EARNED THEM MYSELF! And after this march, I won't have to say that I did NOTHING just to be treated equal....
....I can say that I MARCHED for my rights....and DAMN did it feel good.... :)
KEEP EQUALITY GOING!!!
TELL YOUR STORY....

(500) Days of Summer
This movie was super cute! I've always been a fan of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but Zooey was also perfectly cast this time around. The connection between the two of them was very natural and beautiful all at once.
And I have to admit, the story was better than I expected... At first, I thought the scenes were going to be too choppy for me, as the timeline kept skipping back and forth between the end of the 500 days and the beginning of it. But as the film progressed, the jumping of time made perfect sense and it never got confusing. It also made many of the moments funnier than called for, so that's always a plus.
What I DIDN'T LIKE, however, was that it "WASN'T" a love story! The narrator says so from the beginning, and it makes sense when you read the end of the movie, but I WANTED a love story! As an optimist, I WANTED the "perfect ending" so to speak. (But then again, I also wanted Dawson and Joey to end up together on "Dawson's Creek," but we all know what happened there....) I guess the ending made me sad, even though I KNEW it was coming, but it made me think about our own relationships and if two people, whether they be friends or lovers, ever really DO stay together for the rest of their lives. What if I WANT to find someone to be with forever? Is that too much to ask for? According to this movie....it is..... :(
I give this movie only 1 REDBULL!
(meaning I would only need 1 Redbull to sit and watch it all over again)

Ghost Town
Ok, I love Ricky Gervais, but for some reason, the trailer made this movie look soooooo cheesy, but it was adorable! Teo Leoni is also a personal favorite of mine, as well as Greg Kennear. So I don't know how I thought this was going to be a bad film, lol.
But I particularly loved the message attached to this piece. Of course, Ricky Gervais' character gets roped into helping the dead (or ghosts, in this case) with their unfinished business. And let me tell you, I bawled. I had a best friend who committed suicide during my senior year of college about 3 years back, and I can only wish he would send me some sort of sign to explain as to why he did it. Part of me also wishes I could be like Ricky Gervais in this film and help those in reality cope with death and the loss of their loved ones. I feel that when my friend died, he taught me that death is just another part of life, and this film sort of hit that same feeling for me... :)
Also, big shout out to Kristen Wiig! I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!!! :)
I give this movie only HALF a REDBULL
(meaning I would only need half a Redbull to watch it all over again, lol)
Congrats to putting together a great film, cast and crew of Ghost Town! You truly touched home for me... :)

Olivia and Rich's Wedding
This weekend, I attended one of the most AMAZING weddings I've ever been to! My friend, Olivia, who I know from back home in Massachusetts, followed me to Point Park University in Pittsburgh where she met her fiance, Rich, and they finally got married last Friday, July 3rd. This has been a year and a half in the making, but they have been dating for about 4 years now. Here's what I loved about the wedding:
1. My friends from Andover were there
2. My friends from Point Park were there
3. It rained right before the ceremony, but then stopped, and Olivia's brother, Luke, and Rich's best man, Kevin, played "Here Comes the Sun" as
an intro hymn....and the sun came out... :)
4. Olivia smiled at me during the ceremony
5. There was an open bar for most of the night, lol
6. The wedding party did a medley of horrible MT numbers, but it was priceless! ;)
7. Their wedding cake was made of cupcakes
8. The photographer was orgasmic!!! www.hinkleyphotoblog.com
9. I got to dance for most of the evening
10. They had a photo booth and I got to play dress up
11. The food was buffet style
12. The colors were GORGEOUS!!! (purples, white, and hot pink!)
13. Rich and Olivia were happy... :)
A video montage of all the pictures I took is soon to follow.... :)
In the meantime, my BEST to Rich and Olivia, and I KNOW they love each other as much as I love them! CONGRATS, you guys! :)

Are you serious, California???
Come on, California....REALLY!?!? What the fuck!!?? What does it matter to you anyway? All these people want to do is love each other. Why is that so wrong? Just because a book tells you it's wrong? Didn't you ever learn not to believe everything you read? I'm gay, and I believe in SOME of what that same book teaches us, but you have to be blind not to see that most of it is contradicting. Therefore, it's literally IMPOSSIBLE to believe in EVERYTHING the Bible says without being a hypocrite.

But again....I ask....what is it to YOU? How does someone being gay affect your life at all? The answer is....IT DOESN'T! And if it does, that's your own fault! I just think we, as a country, as a society, as HUMAN BEINGS, should be SUPPORTING those who simply want to LOVE one another. Love. LOVE LOVE love Love loVE loVe LOVe loVe LOVE!!!

Boys...
So it's been over a year since my last serious relationship, and I think I FINALLY met someone who is actually WORTH trying with...
He is the most amazing person! So sweet. Cute. Punkish. Adorable. Sensitive. Likes to laugh, and he pokes me all the time, like he wants to tickle me. Can you tell I'm falling fast? ;)
The only problem is that he is just getting out of a bad relationship. I think he was madly in love with this boy, the same way I was madly in love with my ex. The question is...do I pursue a relationship with this boy KNOWING that it might take some time for him to trust me (or any other guy for that matter)? My gut tells me this boy is worth it. But, of course, my heart doesn't want to get hurt again...
But his situation made me realize something about my own...if we didn't get hurt in the end, I think it means that we didn't care in the first place. If my ex didn't fuck me up the way he did, that whole year and a half we were together would have meant nothing and would have been a complete waste of my time. But that fact that it DID hurt so much in the end, meant it was real, and that, to me, is worth it...
I think I'm gonna go for it with this new boy...and if I get hurt, it's my own fault, but at least it feels good to love again....I forgot what this feeling felt like.... ;)

A "Great" Man Moves On...
My brother had a mini golf competition going on with this man, and what I loved so much was that my Uncle Arthur was 80 years old, yet that never stopped him. He was so energetic, and he was everything I want to be when I turn 80 years old. I just admired him so much, and I already miss him so much...I know he is in a better place--I have no doubt about that--I just hope I get to see him again some day...
...and play mini golf... :(
